Hydro–Mechanical Behaviour of a Rainfall-Induced Landslide by Instrumental Monitoring: Landslide–Rainfall Threshold of the Western Black Sea Bartin Region of Türkiye

چکیده

Bartin City is located in the Western Black Sea Region of Türkiye, where rainfall-induced landslides are more frequently observed. Although it known that many induced by rainfall, there limited knowledge regarding how rainfall triggers these city. To clarify triggering mechanisms landslides, a detailed field monitoring program was performed on chosen area to represent Bartin. The instrumentation included measurements site suction, volumetric water content, groundwater level, and amount over period two years. Various stability analyses were pore pressures after both transient flow infiltration analysis site-measured suction values. intensity–duration thresholds obtained for dry wet periods as result numerical means parameters from monitoring. results show conditions create critical before failure compared conditions, so occur easily periods. According landslide–rainfall threshold relations, landslide-risk limits reached if intensity 10 mm/h lasts between 0.85 h 17 depending saturated hydraulic conductivity soil. When intensities less than mm/h, longer durations needed landslide occur. For periods, situations encountered 1 continues 0.36 h–3.67 h, conductivities.

Landslide susceptibility assessment of SE Bartin (West Black Sea region, Turkey) by artificial neural networks

Landslides are significant natural hazards in Turkey, second only to earthquakes with respect to economic losses and casualties. The West Black Sea region of Turkey is known as one of the most landslide-prone regions in the country. The work presented in this paper is aimed at evaluating landslide susceptibility in a selected area in the West Black Sea region using Artificial Neural Network (AN...

Causes of the 1998 Bartin river flood in Western Black Sea region of Turkey.

A vast flood in the Western Black Sea region of Turkey in May 1998 caused great loss of life and significant damage. Communication network, transportation, and construction cost of the disaster was estimated around US $500 million. Since flood area was relatively large, only Bartin river watershed were analysed and investigated within the scope of this study. It is very common having intense su...
